Why, Yes. It Is Another (Mini) Spring Break.

April 11th, 2008 by Karly Campbell · No Comments

flowers and an icicleSome days I question my decision to homeschool. The children are bickering, the house is a mess, I haven’t gotten my hair cut in 6 months because I don’t have an hour alone to go and get it done, and did I mention the bickering? Spring seems to be slowly arriving and with it my children are beginning to feel a little restless. As am I. We are all ready to get out of this house for a while, but its just not warm enough. Or it is warm enough, but it is raining. Or the sun is shining, but the wind is strong enough to knock you over.

(Spring, Hi. Its me, Karly. Could you please make up your mind here? Are you going to be warm or not? Rain or no rain? What is the deal? Love, Karly)

I know that this will pass, that I will begin enjoying all this time I spend with my children again. I know that in a couple weeks we will be able to do things together that do not involve sitting inside these four walls and arguing. I know that us being sick of each other is completely normal.

I also know that right now? This sucks. We’ve got Spring Fever and we’ve got it bad. We need to get out of here and go somewhere warm and forget about all the work we still have to do before the end of the year, the testing still to be completed, the spring cleaning that needs done, the planning for next year. All of it. We just need to forget it and go have fun for a bit.

Eeyore turns 8 years old today so while you are reading this I am celebrating my baby boy’s birthday. We aren’t anywhere warm, but we did manage to get out of the house. Eeyore is really interested in knights and castles and the like, so we decided to celebrate his birthday at Medieval Times in Chicago.

Taking a few days off from school and getting out to do something fun is exactly what we need right now.

How do you handle being cooped up in the house all winter and spring with your children?
