Okay, time for some confessions here. What are your parenting pet peeves? Is there something that your children do that just drives you up a wall? Let’s discuss!
I’ll go first. One of my pet peeves is boys getting up (after we’ve gone to all the trouble of putting them to bed) to ask us to fill their water cups. See, we let them each take a cup of water into their rooms at night. This is a regular thing. I usually tell them, “Get your water” before we do the prayer and tuck-in routine.
And yet? About 5 minutes after we’ve wished them goodnight they’re out in the kitchen. Ooooooooo! Drives me crazy. As much as I love my kids, once we’ve put them to bed I don’t want to see them again until morning. Unless there’s some kind of emergency, of course.
But other than that….stay in bed!
So what about you? What’s something your kids do that just drives you crazy?

I hate it when my kids bicker with each other over stupid little things – epecially at breakfast. For example, recently there was a bitter dispute about whether the Jolly Green Giant is NAMED Jolly Green Giant, or whether he IS a jolly green giant who must also have a name.
This is worth ruining mom’s breakfast?

Right now my son is asking the same question in many different ways. Its really annoying.

STL Mom, that’s hilarious! Except for the annoying part. I’d be tempted to say something like, “Dude! Hold still while I go get my bat!” You can’t duct tape their mouths shut over it either…that’d ruin the whole “breakfast” thing.
No, it’s definitely not worth ruining mom’s breakfast. I wonder if there’s a way to turn the tables on them?
Lucy, that can really drive me over the edge too. I have taken to asking them the question back and so they have to answer it. This proves that they know the answer and I can then ignore the new forms of the question.
