Lots of people continue to ask how we like homeschooling, if it’s working, how long we’ll continue to homeschool our children. My answers? It’s going good. Sure, there are days when we have problems focusing, days when Eeyore’s video game privileges are taken away because he would rather sit and whine about doing his math worksheet than just do it and get it over with. There are days that I think if I have to read one more stinkin’ book out loud I will poke my own eyeballs out.
And then there are days when we all lay in the middle of the floor pouring over a new book, Cindy-Lu pointing out things in the pictures, Eeyore insisting that I read just one more chapter, me loving my children more than I thought possible.
At times it is chaotic and we are rushing to get one thing done so that we can move on to the next big project of the day and I’m driving Eeyore to Arts class and Cindy-Lu to pre-school and then picking them both up and taking them to open gym and then finally making it home and telling them to hurry up and eat so that we can get as much school work done as possible before Spanish class that evening. Those days aren’t so much fun and we all get stressed out and in a hurry and the work that does get done is minimal. But, we make up for it on the days that we don’t even get out of our pajamas. We lay around and read extra chapters in Eeyore’s science book and we read lots of stories to each other and we draw pictures and play with play-doh and have lots of fun family time.
Overall, six months into it, I am still loving this homeschooling thing. I am still planning to continue on throughout my childrens’ school career, planning on them graduating from high school at home. I’m very happy with our decision to homeschool and don’t regret it a bit. Thanks for asking.
