I did it again. I bought too many toys.
Each year I start buying toys for my DS for Christmas. Each year I make a list, calculate the cost to ensure I’m staying in budget and start buying. This seems like it would be an analytical and thoughtful process but, it isn’t.
Each year I start out buying what’s on the list; each year I buy more than is on the list. Each year I buy too many toys.
Part of the problem is my DS wants everything and nothing. He’ll peruse the catalogs that appear on our doorstep and calmly announce, ‘I want this and this and this and this.” Then turn the page. And say, “I want this and this and this and this…†And turn the page. And say…. Well, you get the idea.
There’s nothing he really wants. There’s nothing he doesn’t.
Which should make it easier. But, doesn’t.
The problem is when I enter a store or an online shopping site I tend to say, “oh, he’d like this and this and this.†Then turn the corner (or click) and say, “oh, he’d like this and this and this.â€
You see my dilemma.
So, once again, I will select some of the toys I purchased to give him on Christmas. The rest I will pack away to give to him on his birthday in two months.
Of course, then I’ll repeat the same process. I still have two presents I didn’t give him last birthday but planned to give him this Christmas…hmmm.
