Eeyore’s favorite subject is science. This year we have learned about dinosaurs and birds. We are now working on the human body, animals, and will soon be doing a unit on volcanoes.
Learning about the human body has been pretty interesting for us both. We’ve been doing experiments to see how vocal cords work and taking our fingerprints and all sorts of interesting things. This last week we were learning about our ears. We learned that the ears are not just for hearing, but also for balance.
After watching a short video and reading a book about how your ears work, I had Eeyore spin in circles to see if he would get dizzy and if he could explain why he was dizzy. He denied that he got dizzy (even though he was wobbling around the room like a drunk) and asked for lunch.
I made him his peanut butter sandwich and did not cut off the crust like I usually do. A few bites into the sandwich and he says “Mom, spinning doesn’t make me dizzy, but eating the crust on my sandwich does.”
You know, I would have just told him to eat around the crust without the extra drama of him becoming dizzy, but hey, whatever works.
