Today signals the end of our Blogibirthday celebration. It’s been fun, don’t you think? The winners for the contest will be announced on Monday. While our regularly scheduled columns were shuffled around a bit this week we started having some interesting discussions about what might be in store for GNMParents in 2008. If you have any thoughts about that I invite you to shoot me an email. I’d love to talk about it with you.
Today’s prize is unique in the world of blog give aways. It’s hot. It’s cool. It’s rad. It’s rockin’. It’s gnarly. (In case you are wondering the answer is yes. I definitely look forward to embarrassing my children for years to come). It’s a $50 gift card. A $50 gift card to any reasonably easy to contact establishment. That’s right, if you win we will talk to you about where you would like to redeem your prize… imagine the possibilities…
-
…a restaurant…
…a spa…
…ebay…
…Amazon…
…Snapfish…
…Blockbuster…
…Home Depot…
…almost anywhere you want…
This contest is open to everyone, everywhere. We will make reasonable efforts to obtain a gift certificate to the business that you choose. Like all of our contests, a winner will be chosen at random.
To enter the drawing simply answer the following question in our comments before Sunday afternoon:
If you win, what will you do with the $50?
That’s it! How cool?! Many thanks to the great Stu Mark for sponsoring this exciting prize and for investing his blood, tears (and now money) in GNMParents every single day.
Once again, a lot of thanks to you for being a GNM Parent. If you haven’t yet subscribed to our blog, please get busy! Just hit the orange square near our header or enter your email address in the box to the right. We promise never to send you junk of any kind- just our new posts as soon as they are published!
Peace out. (Again with the embarrassment. This takes lots and lots of practice, people!)

Well, this time of year, $50 in my house would go toward presents for the kids.

Well, since all of our Christmas is bought…I would use the $50 to go out on a much needed date with my husband! A kid-free night out would be such a treat for us both! Thanks for the awesome giveaway!

First, “Again with the embarrassment.” - *Hilarious!* - You’d make a great Jew.
Second, you’re the one who has the hard part. My job is monkey-work *and* my kids are much older and easier to ignore, especially since I taught them to drive and how to use the GPS system to find the nearest hospital.

$50 would pay for a snowboarding lesson for me, the kids are learning this winter and I have this fantasy of staying connected to them through their teen years by sharing chair lift rides and comparing jumps in snowboarding parks. Otherwise, I’d be the lame mom who just skis.
Some of the best conversations I had with my dad were on a chairlift, I’d like to share that with my kids.

Something for me. I spend all year buying stuff and doing stuff for everyone but me that I’d spend some $$ on books at Amazon.
Imagine that. Buying myself something. HERESY!

I would use the 50$ to provide some gifts for a family less fortunate than my own. I know there are a lot of hardworking families out there who may not be able to have the bountiful Christmas that we are able to. What a great blessing that would be!

There are so many things that I could use it for. I think that the first thing that came to my mind was a this would give us a weeks worth of gas for my husbands truck. I know it is lame but at 3:10 a gallon, it would help.

I would use the $50 on a date with the hubby. Probably go the movies. With two birthdays and several family gatherings, we need a reason to escape.

I would love a disney giftcard. We are spending the Christmas budget on a trip there rather than gifts this year. But we need money for food once we’re there!

Oh boy. A date with hubby. Dinner without children screaming would be the best holiday present for both of us!

The $50.00 gift card would help us out a ton this holiday season. Bills are squeezing everything very tight, and it will be a miracle if we have a Christmas. Not to make a sob story here, but it is hard when you’re recovering from rough times.
Whomever wins it is going to be a happy camper!

I would take the $50, and go to the dollar store.
Then, I would put 50 little “gifties” into my cart, and pay 1$ for each of them, and take them home.
Then, I would put each little “giftie” into a little hand-painted gift bag (white paper lunch bags, hand-stamped with holiday designs) and I would give them to people.
Any people. People who looked like they needed a smile. People who looked sad. People who seemed to be frazzled. I would spend a day just looking for people who needed a little giftie.
Just a little tiny anonymous giftie. Sure to brighten a minute, or a day, for someone.
That’s what *I* would do with the $50.
