I am so supremely excited to welcome Swimming in Literary Soup to GNMParents. Swimming in Literary Soup is a brand new podcast created and hosted by Andrea Ross, the co-creator and co-host of the Just One More Book Podcast.
An excerpt from Andrea’s Swimming in Literary Soup introduction beautifully illustrates what we can expect when we jump in for a swim:
I will suggest combinations of books which I hope will inspire, engage, educate and entertain and practices that may nurture strong reading skills and a love of reading in our young swimmers so they’ll not only stay afloat but will enjoy the experience so much that they’ll eagerly continue to add wisely to their own soup as our window of influence diminishes.
People, I have gotten a preview of Episode 1, and let me tell you: I could not wait to get to the library. These are amazing books and it was so lovely to hear Andrea describe them so passionately. I am a library dweller. I love going to the library alone and with the Punks. I often think about cultivating their love of reading and books. I give books as presents. I read lots of different books with the Punks. Swimming in Literary Soup really helped to change the way I think about choosing the books that we read.
Please stop on by and give the show a few minutes of your time. You don’t need an iPod or MP3 player, you can listen on your computer. Don’t forget to leave Andrea a comment, it’s a new venture and there is lots of love to share!
Andrea- Thank you for adding your voice to this community. The water is fine, and I am really looking forward to swimming in every new episode!

I am a huge children’s literature fan and I enjoyed the podcast. It made me think of the book Horray for Woodney Wrat. It is about a rat who stutters. Great for kids who are dealing with friends making fun of their stuttering. I will listen again.

Colleen,
Thanks for giving SILS a listen and for highlighting Hooway for Wodney Wat. I’m definitely going to check it out!
