Hot Stuff: Vote For Your Favorite!

May 22nd, 2007 by Stu Mark · 7 Comments

new-image.JPGFirst off, a big thank you to the folks who nominate Hot Stuff items! We.Love.You.

Second, welcome back to another edition of GNMP’s favorite show, Hot Stuff Of The Week! Ok, so it’s not really a show, but I’m from Los Angeles, and we turn every award into an awards show. ;-)
Third, here are your nominees for this week’s Hot Stuff. They’re each an example of the kind of parenting we think is important here at GNMP. So, pour a cup of coffee or tea, slip into your comfy zone, and spend some time reading each of this week’s nominees. Then, vote. After that, maybe a nice walk with your kids.

Over at Zen Habits they have a brilliant list of ways to relax while in the middle of a potentially challenging parenting moment. They call it How To Become A Patient Parent. I call it wise.

13 Things We Need To Teach Our Teens is a presentation by WearyParent, who creates a listing of some important life lessons to explain to teenagers, as a way of preparing them for joining society at large. Very thoughtful and open-ended and non-judgmental.

This next nominee is a simple, fun, and ingenious way to start seedlings in your garden. Brought to you by Whip Up, a site dedicated to promoting the community of crafting, Raising Seedlings Using Recycled Newspaper walks you through a few easy steps to avoid a trip to the hardware store for seedling planters. Add this one to your list of how to make your garden grow.

Family First has created an unpretentious conversation starter kit for kids. This list of conversation starters is perfect for the dinner table or family meetings or game night or the long line at the grocery store. As you read through each one, remember, talking is one way to help your family bond.

Our final nominee of the night is a real blessing. Mama Blogga gives all us Moms (and Moms in Dad suits) a little encouragement, for those times when we feel like the worst mother on the planet - Five Things Moms Do Right.

Ok, these are some wonderful nominees, so take your time, because this vote will be tough. And, on behalf of everyone here at GNMParents, allow me to thank each of you for voting. Your vote adds a dollop of love to the parents who are out on the front line, fighting the good fight.
