Pizza Box Art

November 8th, 2007 by A. Tucker · 2 Comments

art-time.jpgDo you have a toddler or small child who is driving you crazy?

Are you craving at least ten minutes of semi-peace and quiet?

Do you like pizza?

If your answer to the above questions was “yes” then I have a wondrous solution/project for you.

Required objects:

  • Rambunctious Child

  • Washable markers and crayons
  • “Play clothes”
[AKA something that you don’t mind your kid ruining]
  • Pizza box [without the pizza]

After you’ve devoured your pizza, remove any errant pieces of pepperoni and cheese.

Once the box is as topping-free as is possible, set the pizza box in the middle of your floor.

Expect rambunctious child to make a bee line for the box.

Dump a box of crayons and markers into the center of the pizza box.

By now, rambunctious child will most likely be in the box along with the crayons.

Watch as child looses their mind over the fact that they are not only sitting in a pizza box [!] but they are also drawing in a pizza box [!!].

I am constantly amazed at what kids find exciting.

What simple things have you come up with to entertain your kids?

I sometimes forget how endlessly fascinating water is. Toys or even ordinary household objects can entertain my kids for hours at the sink or in the tub or shower.

Stainless steel pots and pans are great for banging around and stacking. Plastic chinese soup spoons make a great mallet and my kid loves a DVD case. He will look at it or carry it around for hours.
