Leaf Rides: Have Fun with Your Kids and Get the Job Done

I’ve been thinking a lot about the importance of play and combining with work lately in my learnings around social media making. When the leaves come down in the autumn in New England, it’s a lot of work to rake ‘em up. Luckily, I have some digital natives to help me. So, here’s a way to combine work and play and make your fall clean up fun!

How do you combine work and play?

    Beth:
What fun!! I try and do this all of the time- but sometimes it’s easier than other times. Here are 2 of our ideas: on cleaning day the kids go to town with baby wipes. We play games to see how dirty everyone can get their wipe by cleaning up spots on the floor, wndow sills, tables and kitchen chairs. When its time to clean up the playroom we sometimes play “try and trick Mama” I close my eyes and the kids put several things away and I try to guess what they did. This was especially helpful when I was nursing, and much more fun then just barking orders. “Do this, do that, do this, do that” gets old wuick- for me and for them. Making work fun helps everyone- kids and parents to feel better about life.

This is a lot of fun, and some good ideas! What a great plan for making it fun.

Unfortunately, we didn’t get much of the leaves up … and the guy who we pay to cut our lawn - well they came by later in the week with their blowers and got most of the leaves. My son asked me, “Mommy, is there a leaf fairy?”

[…] I commented recently about how my kids make cleaning fun by helping wash down walls and chairs and all sorts of things with baby wipes. I didn’t write about how they’ve also used the magic erasers to clean the walls and laughed as they disappeared in their hands. My kids have used these magic pads several times. There weren’t warnings on the packages that we had. […]
