Laughter: A Poem to my Daughter

August 2nd, 2007 by Annie Dameron · 1 Comment

I saw Christina laughing this morning and it was the sweetest sound in the world. She wears her emotions on her sleeve and shows them much more readily than her brother. I jotted this down and dedicated this to her.

Dearest Christina,

to see you smile, to see you laugh
it makes my heart sing.
To see your joy spread across your face
means more than anything.

You laugh when I tickle your sides
You laugh when I chase you round
You laugh when your Daddy lifts you up
You laugh when he puts you back on the ground.

My little girl, enjoy your life
and let the world see your smile.
It’s easy to take that for granted
for just a little while.
