Giving New Meaning to Parenting

High School, Someday

November 26th, 2007 by Busy Mom · 1 Comment

highschool.jpgAs hard as it is to believe, it’s time to make some decisions about where my oldest will be attending high school next year.

It’s a tough decision between two schools and each has advantages and disadvantages, but I’m sure whatever we decide will work out just fine.

However, it’s more of note that this is one of those times where “someday” has arrived.

We’ve known it was a decision we would have to make since she was born, but, it always seemed so far away.

As a matter of fact, I can remember sitting around when she was a newborn calculating when she’s start school, and, the “Fall of 1999″ seemed so absurd at the time. The fact that she would graduate high school in 2012 was unfathomable.

When she was younger, I sort of mentally dismissed our friends with older kids, because, well, their trials and tribulations didn’t apply to me, and, besides, her getting older, and, not needing me as much someday, was simply too much to think about.

But, now there are letters coming to the house addressed to her as a member of the Class of 2012.

And, you know what? It’s OK.

No, she’s no longer a little kid, but, it’s a great time, and, she’s got so much ahead of her.

So, just a note to all you new parents out there, I’m reporting back from “someday”, and, there’s nothing to be afraid of. “Someday” is different, but, it’s still exciting.
