There is truly something magical about your child forming a bond with something other than you. [or my boobs in my case]
Cara’s almost thirteen months old and up until a couple of weeks ago, she had never shown an affinity to a stuffed animal or blanket.
When she was smaller, she wouldn’t even take a pacifier; it was me or nothing.
Before we had Cara, heck, before we were even thinking about having a baby period, Tucker and I had fallen in love with Ugly Dolls.
They were cute in the way that Cabbage Patch Dolls are cute: so ugly they’re cute.
Cara’s one year birthday crept up on us like all first birthdays tend do and we were at a loss as to what we should get her.
Then, one day while Cara was sitting on my lap, I happened to look at the Ugly Doll website and Cara screached with joy.
Needless to say, Cara picked out her own present.
The second she saw Ugly Dog, she was in love.
Cara clutched him to her little baby bosom and smiled from ear to ear.
Since then, not a nap has been slept or a night has been spent without Ugly Dog. Heck, he even goes to Target with us.
Though I know that Ugly Dog will grow old and Cara will move on to another doll, it’s wonderful to be granted the gift of watching my daughter fall in love.
What was your child’s “first love”?

My sister owns a business that makes lovies, and she makes them all by hand herself. Before The Poo was born she made several special ones for her.
What does she love? Some random gift from a co-worker of my MIL. A rabbit attached to a small blanket. We don’t do ANYTHING w/o Bunsie. He is the second most important member of our family, with The Poo being No. 1!
Liked this post a lot.

That is very sweet. My youngest has to have his stuffed triceratops as part of his day.
