Cooking for Two

June 22nd, 2009 by AmyL · 1 Comment

dinner for two with candlesHubby and I just spent a week sans children (older boys went to Boy Scout Camp, younger boys went to Camp Grandma). I’d forgotten how different it is to cook for two people instead of six. I made some pasta Monday night, intending to also cook up some chicken and broccoli. When it was too late to do the chicken, I just served the pasta. Turns out cooking the whole pound wasn’t the best choice. I finished the last of it today. Whoops.

Laundry was interesting too. I was able to get our clothes clean in about 2 loads. Which led me to start washing bedding. I was a clothes-washing maniac. Sure hope everyone enjoys their clean sheets.

Also fascinating was how clean certain rooms stayed. Usually there are 4 (or 5) male individuals wreaking havoc on the house, but this week things remained as I left them.

It was quite an experience, let me tell you.

All this strangeness caused me to wonder, is this what life will be like when the boys are grown and gone? Will there be small meals and easy loads of laundry, and an ordered home? Do I even like that idea?

Or should I be out recruiting additional family members?
