A few weeks ago I wrote about my relationship with the older boys and how I feel like we’re getting closer to one another over time. This summer I want to build on that with some fun activities. My list includes time at the beach, a possible service project for senior citizens that the boys approved, and at least one trip to an amusement park.
Then I got to wondering what other families are doing to build closer relationships over the next 3 or 4 months. So naturally I’m bringing the question to you. What are you doing in the next few months to build your relationship with your children?

The beach. The ocean, the lake, the ocean. My favorite activity- bar none- is romping in the waves with the Punks. We’ve been known to arrive at the beach mid-morning and stay through dinner. Sigh. It’s good for the soul and the relationship.
Also, I want to be sure I am getting lots of 1:1 time with each of them. That is no easy feat.
I love summer. I love the smell of it. I love bonfires and family hikes and lazy mornings. I love fun salads and BBQ dinners. I love going out for ice cream and finding a new place to be together.

Oooh, the beach! You know, I haven’t liked going to the beach in so many years (I burn so easily). But taking your children to the beach is a completely different universe, and I love it now. We got to take the boys to the ocean last year and I wish we could have just stayed and played on the beach for a couple of days instead of an afternoon.

We plan to go to the park alot to explore nature, they want to go to the beach sigh okay but I really don’t like beaches(water), explore some of Michigan with them and go to a racecar race as a special treat.
