Since I’ve been covering toys, toy recalls and toy safety in great detail this year (haven’t we all) I was interested to see this article from News Inferno .
Lead levels once considered safe could be putting some children at risk for Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), says a new study. The research, conducted by the University of Michigan, is sure to cause concerns among parents already made anxious by this year’s record number of recalls for lead-tainted toys.
Ah, yeah.
This clearly is a problem. And the battles rage pitting those that argue that “boys will be boys†and Ritalin is over-prescribed against parents and teachers at their wits end. Perhaps, there really is a reason beyond increased awareness that we’re seeing so many boys in particular affected or at least diagnosed with this disorder.
Sigh, I think books and CDs will be big on my Christmas list this year!
