I am an avid reader and thus a big fan of books. I especially like books about “green†topics and sustainable living practices. I am always quick to scoop up health books too. I have had the opportunity lately to do quite a bit of reading and thought I would pass my recommendations to you.
Here is a list books and my reviews for them that every green mom should read!

Lunch Lessons – This is not only a book about making sure your kids are eating healthy school lunches, it also provides a lot of information for parents trying to lobby for more nutritious and even organic school lunches.
Last Child in the Woods - The book explores the increasing divide between the young and the natural world, and the environmental, social, psychological, and spiritual implications. It also shows us how important that connection is for child and adult health.
Escape the Bird Flu - Not only does this book outline the ways in which you can protect yourself in the event of pandemic illness it gives us good information about staying healthy and avoiding illness in general. The information about vitamins, health supplements, and healthy lifestyle practices is great to have
The Omnivore’s Dilemma - The bestselling author of The Botany of Desire explores the ecology of eating to unveil why we consume what we consume in the twenty-first century.
Eco Village at Ithaca - The Eco Village is a real place in Ithaca, New York…an intentional community with a focus on sustainable living.
This engrossing book draws the reader into the midst of a village that includes cohousing neighborhoods, small-scale organic farming, land preservation, green building, alternative energy projects and hands-on education.

I love Liz Walker’s book on Ithaca EcoVillage… I’ve visited twice, and learned a bunch from her book. If you like that one, check out Diana Leafe Christian’s “Creating a Life Together” and her new “Finding Community” to learn about how other communities have done it and you can do it yourself! And click on my name for a link to the national Cohousing Association site with a directory of the nearly-100 communities around the country.

Great list of books, Tiffany.
And Raines - I’m on a list where there’s been a bunch of discussion about cohousing recently, so I’m going to share your link with them!
